Last Saturday we hosted the prestigious Midland Golf Union County Championship for 2024.

Event Overview: The Midland Golf Union County Championship is an annual golf competition involving all ten counties within the Midlands. For 2024, the event will be hosted by Staffordshire at Trentham Park Golf Club.
Participating Counties:
• Cambridgeshire
• Derbyshire
• Leicestershire & Rutland
• Lincolnshire
• Northamptonshire
• Nottinghamshire
• Shropshire & Herefordshire
• Staffordshire
• Warwickshire
• Worcestershire
Format: Each county selects six players. The championship is played over 36 holes, and the best five combined scores from each team are counted. This scoring method emphasises the importance of consistent performance across all players, as a single poor score can significantly impact the team's standing.
2023 Results Recap:
• Champions: Lincolnshire
o Combined Score: Round 1 - 351, Round 2 - 343, Total - 694 (-16)
o Outstanding Players:
o Samuel Potter: Best combined 36 holes score of 66, 66 (-10)
o Simon Richardson: Equalled the course record with a score of 64
o Last Place Team: Combined total of 765 (+51)
Feedback received: Trentham Park Golf Club received outstanding feedback for its golf course, clubhouse facilities, service, food, and overall organisation. The 2023 Staffordshire Amateur Championship is a prestigious event held at Trentham Park Golf Club this year. It was a great honour for our club to serve as the host venue. In recognition of our efforts and the significant course modifications undertaken, we were presented with a beautiful glass memento. This prized possession will be proudly showcased at our club, symbolizing the dedication and hard work that went into attaining the exceptional standards required for hosting such a prestigious championship.
