A Night With John Rudge

On Wednesday the 1st of May long-time member of TPGC and football legend entertained us with stories of his past ranging from his beginning as a fifteen-year-old at Wolves, travelling through his playing career stopping off at Huddersfield, Carlilse and Bristol Rovers, his highly successful time as manager of Port Vale and ending with his role as Director of Football at Stoke City.
70 guests were highly entertained by John who was joined by a fellow member of TPGC, Stuart Molyneux, who did a magnificent job as Master of Ceremonies for the interview style delivery of John’s reminiscing. John spent the first hour recalling his memories after which he took questions from the floor for the best part of another hour.
The evening was presented by TPGC Seniors, of whom john is a member, for the purposes of, not only a cracking evening’s entertainment, but also to raise funds for the well-earned tribute being organised for John by his legion of appreciative fans, namely a statue in his honour to be sited at Vale Park, the home of Port Vale.
The evening raised £645 for John’s fund for which he was very grateful. Part of the evening’s entertainment was a game of heads and tales and the winner, Phil Wood found himself £150 to the good.
One of the guests, ardent Vale fan Terry Oliver, can be seen with John purchasing a copy of his biography.
TPGC’s bar and catering teams were on top form, and it was a brilliant evening whether or not you were a Port Vale or Stoke City fan.
